Housing Services

ihAg owns or manages a number of properties across Ipswich where we offer a single room in a shared house for individuals who are homeless.  We also offer support where needed to help people develop the skills to be able to live independently.

We're here to help

For over 40 years, ihAg's Housing Services has offered accomodation for single people. We currently house up to 38 individuals across 11 shared homes in Ipswich.

  • Homeless individuals come to us through several routes; they may:
    • be referred though our own Chapman Centre
    • be referred by other agencies such as Ipswich Borough Council (Housing Options)
    • contact us directly

  • Support: subject to resources, we offer support to those who need additional help with life skills, managing a tenancy or health or mental health issues to help them prepare for independent living in their own tenancy.

  • Emergency Accommodation: We don't provide emergency housing directly, but our staff can help people apply through the Local Authority.

Who can register for accommodation?

Anyone over 18, living as a single person who has nowhere satisfactory to live, or is about to be in this situation, can register for accommodation.  Unfortunately we cannot house children.

Please note: Sadly, not everyone can be housed immediately and we currently cannot provide support for people who have high or complex needs.

Moving towards long term housing

The accommodation managed by ihAg is is designed to provide temporary support and stability and not a long-term solution.

When residents are ready to manage their own tenancy, we help them move towards a more permanent housing solution, whether through social housing, the private rented sector or, in some cases, a different shared housing option with more suitable support.
