“Why did I volunteer to be an IHAG trustee?”:

After retirement I took on the role of churchwarden at St Margaret’s Church in Ipswich for 5 years. During this time, we had a difficult situation of homeless people camping in the churchyard which attracted criminal elements leading to violence, theft and damage. This resulted in us having to issue eviction notices on the campers and the clearing of the campsite. This experience made me want to find out more about the issues of homelessness and led me to apply to be an IHAG Trustee in 2012. I was somewhat surprised to find myself elected as chair in December 2013.
