Bill Hewlett, Vice Chair

Personal Information:

I moved to Suffolk in 1983 having worked in the West Midlands for 10 years.  I have enjoyed windsurfing, cycling and play petanque for my local pub team. Active in my village I am chair of the community hall committee and our woodland group.
Work / profession / skills:

I joined Ipswich Borough Council in 1983 as Assistant Director of Housing and left after 20 years of service.  My responsibilities included homelessness, housing register, private sector housing, supported housing and new housing provision. Then I became a housing consultant working around strategies for homelessness, supported housing, sub regional housing and House Improvement Agencies.  As I change I ran a Sandwich Shop in Felixstowe for 6 years. I am now retired
“Why did I volunteer to be an IHAG trustee?”: Working at the borough I engaged regularly with IHAG over a number of projects. IHAG has provided me opportunities to continue to work around homelessness and issues of inequality.
